We are delighted to announce that Steven Thompson has been appointed as the new Patron of the BGC Scotland Charity.
This follows Steven’s dedicated service over the past eight years as Ambassador for BGC Scotland Boys Football, during which he has played a key role in inspiring and supporting young people through sport.
Steven, a former Scottish international footballer and current television pundit, enjoyed a distinguished playing career with clubs including Dundee United, Rangers, Cardiff City, Burnley, and St Mirren. His passion for football and youth development has made a lasting impact on the BGCS community.
Reflecting on his new role, Steven said:
“It means a lot. I’ve seen how football can change lives, and I’m proud to take up this elevated role with BGCS. This is all about the experience for the children—the opportunity to showcase talent and create lifetime memories.”
David Rowan, Chairman of BGC Scotland, welcomed the appointment:
“We’re proud to have such a respected public figure from the sporting and media world take up this post and help raise our profile. We look forward to continuing to work with Steven in the coming years.”
Steven’s appointment as Patron marks an exciting new chapter in BGC Scotland’s journey to empower young people through opportunity, support, and sport.
